HSE rejects union claim of decline in construction inspectors

The HSE has rebuffed claims by the union UCATT that the number of inspectors policing building sites is "derisory". The row broke out after a freedom of information (FOI) request submitted by the union revealed that, in 2015/16, the executive had 132 operational inspectors in its Construction Division who visit sites on a day-to-day basis.
