摘要

Ocys quinquestriatus (Gyllenhal) is infrequently met with by British coleopterists, its habits and ecology perhaps not being fully understood. It is certainly not a species readily found 'to order' and most reports are of single specimens being found by chance encounter rather than traditional collecting methods. Lindroth (1974) described it as 'pronouncedly synanthropic, occurring in dark places, like cellars and stables, under ivy on walls, etc.' and Telfer (pers. comm.) has only encountered it by torchlight, on old walls between 22 October and 3 January. It does, however, also occur in more natural habitats e.g. rocky coasts of Northern Ireland (Anderson, McFerran & Cameron, 2000).
