A NEW TEST METHOD FROM ASTM Subcommittee D35.10 on Geomembranes offers testers of geosyuthetic materials increased reliability when monitoring product quality and consistency.Approved July 10, ASTM D 6693, Standard Test Method for Determining Tensile Properties of Nonreinforced Polyethylene and Nonreinforced Flexible Polypropylene Geomembranes facilitates routine quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) testing. Application of the test method will increase uniformity from laboratory to laboratory when conducting tensile testing of nonreinforced geomembranes, according to Melody A. Adams, a project engineer for IT Corporation, Mahwah, N.J., and chairman of the task group that developed D 6693.
