Many investigations have suggested that the heat transfercoefficient at the interface between two dissimilar solids depends onthe direction of heat flow across the interface. Although manyfactors that affect heat transfer across the interface are reasonablywell understood, the directional dependence of the heat transfercoefficient, called thermal rectification, has not yet beencompletely explained. In this paper, we evaluate the thermalrectification from the results of linear response theory byconsidering scattering and transmission of phonons across theinterface, which ex- presses the dependence of the temperature at theinterface. This model explains the reported behavior of thermalrectification.
