Field Application of a New Line of PC Hydrocyclones from Gravel Extraction to Fine Sand Processing

In recent years, efficient processes for the recovery of fine sand have been introduced into the European sand and gravel industry. When fines are contained in screen underflows or, in the processing of coarse sand and gravel, in the overflows of teeter bed separators, sand washers, Aquamators and bucket wheels, the application of recovery plants is essential for economic reasons, to avoid losses of the fine and extremely fine fractions that are generally needed to make up the synthetic sand and gravel grades [1]. Against this background, this paper reports on the introduction of the new line of PC (Perfect Cyclone) Hydrocyclones supplied by Multotec Process Equipment (Pty) Ltd. and describes typical field applications for these hydrocyclones from extraction to fine sand processing.
