Standard Breeders sets up coloured chicken GP operations

Widely farmed in West Bengal state, coloured chickens are increasingly popular there and elsewhere in India as their fibrous meat is comparable to mutton, which is more expensive. Seeing this as an opportunity, Standard Breeders imported the first flock of coloured chicken grandparent stock (GP) from Hubbard of France in November 2006. It was stocked at one of Standard Breeders' GP farms in Hyderabad to produce parent stock and commercial coloured chicken hatching eggs.
