Beijing DQY wants to make its CNY 200 million (USD 27 million) investment start reaping rewards as soon as possible. The goal is within reach as the growing middle-class population in China is showing greater concern over food safety and is willing topay a premium for branded quality eggs or even 'novel products' such as liquid egg. It is this trend that encouraged Beijing DQY, that started from a layer farm five years ago, to invest heavily in downstream products. With production underway at the egg processing plant in Yanqing district, about 90km northwest of Beijing, the company reached daily production of 1.5 million eggs at the end of 2007 raking in sales of up to CNY 200 million (USD 27 million).
