Shell has set up a joint venture (JV) with Emerging Power to develop solar energy in the Philippines. The JV is targeting 1GW of utility-scale solar PV capacity by 2028, and up to 3 GW in the fol lowing years. It will initially focus on projects in Luzon and Visayas, two of the largest islands in the Philippines. The Philippines aims to increase the share of renewables in the country's power mix to 35 by 2030 and 50 by 2040. This means an additional renewable capacity of 73.9 GW over the next two decades.
