Production and revenue benefits from waste management

Soonthorn Farm achieved a milestone this year when it expanded its capacity to 250,000-270,000 layer birds from 120,000 earlier, producing around 230,000 eggs at present from 90,000 previously. Yet another significant step was the inauguration of thewaste recycling system that endorses its environmental management and improved revenueperformance, writes NITSARA THONGRUNG.f^or more than 30 years up till 2005, Soonthorn Farm maintained an open system with around 20,000 layers.The bird flu in 2004 forced the farm to suspend operations but presented an opportunity for change. It introduced the closed-house system.
