Droiler breeders (BB) must pass on genetics of efficient growth to their progeny, but just as important they must produce a large number of offspring. These two objectives of a breeder hen programme can be translated to mean "carry the gene for the growth rate and feed efficiency but also reproduce like an egg type hen".BB females are very unproductively unfit when they are allowed to full-feed. The strong negative relationship between reproductive efficiency and body weight has resulted in considerable research in defining the ideal target growth curve. The reproductive symptoms associated with breeder females being overweight are related to birds having excessive follicular development.
