German compounder Putsch Kunststoffe and nanoclay producer Sud-Chemie have developed a new scratch resistant PP/PS blend that is expected to substitute painted ABS in automotive interior applications.The first mass-produced part to use the new Elan XP 515 compound is a foot well heater vent for various Volkswagen and Audi models.The companies said development of car seating trim applications is "progressing well",with an initial mass production run scheduled for mid-2005.
