Canadian producer PetroTal said April 28 it will drill a sixth oilwell at its Peruvian oilfields early next month as part of an ongoing ff100 million expansion plan. PetroTal plans to complete the ff15.6 million 11H well at Block 95 in the Maranon Basin by late June to help boost crude output by a quarter this year, the Calgary-based company said in a statement. Block 95, which was producing 20,000 b/d at the start of the year, limited output to 18,200 b/d this month due to the halt of pumping at state Petroperu’s 200,000 b/d North Peruvian oil pipeline (ONP), according to PetroTal. The company continues to supply Petroperu’s 12,000 b/d Iquitos refinery and export to Brazil.
