The extrusion industry faces ever-increasing demands for high-precision profiles. The automotive and industrial sectors are two consumer markets that particularly demand this requirement. Such precision manufacturing requires a specific design of the press feeding, extrusion press, and runout systems. Press feeder design and management principles that allow for precise heating, cutting, and loading especially of two-piece billets onto the extrusion axis are very important. Most extrusion press builders use standard hydraulic drives on their pullers but a few are using servo drives which allow them to handle profiles at high speed and with precision, minimizing scrap production.
