Infrared emission bands from transitions between excited states of cesiumndash;noble gas molecules

New emission bands have been observed from cesium–noble gas molecules in the infrared spectral region beyond 1.0 &mgr;. These bands are associated with the allowed transitions 7S→6Pin the free cesium atom. They provide a stringent consistency check on earlier work on cesium–noble gas excimer emission and absorption bands in the visible and near infrared regions of the spectrum.
