A group of 400 fanners from Transylvania, organized in an association led by the Sibiu farmer Teodor Aflat, have agreed with Tereos to sell them a majority stake in the Ludus sugar factory, which the French group was planning to close down. "We have an agreement in principle with a group of farmers for them to take over the Romanian business," a Tereos spokesperson told Reuters, confirming information in local media. Local press reports indicate a price tag of €200 million that Tereos will be asking. Tereos has been trying to sell its loss-making Romanian activities for more than a year as part of a broader deleveraging strategy.
