The little German town of Gorlitz became the focus of heightened oil and gas industry attention recently.For it fell to Gorlitz,home of the Siemens industrial turbine test centre,to conduct the crucial test run of a turbogenerator string destined for service at a Chinese petrochemical plant.Although the Gorlitz facility has previously produced individual turbines up to 150MW in size,the Chinese turbogenerator string forms part of the largest single turboset order its has ever processed.The order,to supply four 60MW turbosets with condensers and a substantial spare parts package,including spare rotor and blade carriers,was received by Siemens in January 2003 from EPC contractor Sepco(Shandong Electric Power Construction).
