Merlin Petroleum Company, an affiliate of Nippon Oil Exploration, has exercised preemptive rights and acquired AGL's interests in PNG production licences PDL 2 and 4, the former located in Southern Highlands Province 550km northwest of Port Moresby and the latter in the Gulf and Southern Highlands provinces 85km southeast of the Kutubu oil project.
