摘要

UK finance minister Rishi Sunak warned May 17 of the potential for a new windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas producers if they fail to make significant new energy investments on the back of “extraordinary" profits. The comments underline differences between the Chancellor of the Exchequer and others in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government who have promised to support investment in the declining North Sea industry and oppose mooted one-off taxes on the sector.
