The European Commission has issued a report that it says shows that the planned reductions in the use and risk of pesticides under its proposed sustainable use Regulation (SUR) on sustainable use of plant protection products do not threaten food security. The proposal would transform the existing directive into a directly applicable Regulation instructing member states to implement deep use reduction targets.
