Second pipeline dig begins

Construction of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline, being undertaken by CNPC, has gotten under way on the same day in Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia and Shaanxi provinces, inaugurated on 22 February as part of China's eleventh five-year plan. This pipeline will join the Central Asia Gas Pipeline at Horgos in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, transporting gas from Central Asia countries as well as that produced from the Tarim, Junggar, Tuha and Erdos basins to the Pearl River and Yangtze River delta areas and the central south part of China.
