Synthesis of N-(4-chlorobutyl)butanamide,a chlorinated amide isolated from aloe sabaea

Aloe species,native to Africa and Arabia,have been used traditionally by local inhabitants as medicinal plants,as well as source of arrow poison.Phytochemical investigation of Aloe sabaea,a representative of the Aloeaceae family,has revealed the presence of a chlorinated amide,namely N-(4-chlorobutyl)butanamide (10).
