NEW ZEALAND OIL & GAS (NZOG) is eyeing several offshore Taranaki petroleum prospects with plans to drill in the near future.In the west Maui area within the northern part of the Tui oil field area of permit PEP 38460,NZOG has identified a number of prospects.Further 3D seismic is needed to firm up some,but others,such as Weka,are ready to drill when a rig is available and initial development is sufficiently flexible to allow tie-in of any new discoveries.There are also prospects in the southern portion of this permit and adjacent PEP 38483,in which NZOG has a 15% interest,now under consideration for a 3D seismic survey.
