摘要

On curious Barrow Island, off the northwest coast of Australia, the brush-tailed possums live in rock crevices because few trees grow, and the gloden bandicoots scurry fearlessly around the feet of workers. For almost 40 years,Chevron Texaco has been involved in successfully operating an oil field here while also protecting rate native flora and fauna, such as the burrowing bettong,or boodie, which is nearly extinct on the mainland.
