Esso Australia and BHP Billiton (BHPB) are planning what is being billed as the largest combined exploration and production drilling programme in the Gippsland Basin since the 1980's.The Esso/BHPB 50:50 joint venture is in advanced discussions to contract a rig capable of drilling wells from either existing platforms or in new locations,to start in February 2004.
