Petronas ups viet stake, plans vigorous exploration

A petroleum contract signed by Petronas of Malaysia and PetroVietnam will see the two state oil companies jointly exploring for and developing hydrocarbon resources in blocks 01/97 and 02/97 offshore Vietnam. A joint venture company, Lam Son joint Operating Company,is being formed to operated the blocks, with PetroVietnam Exploration & Production Company (PVEP) and Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn Bhd (PCOSB) participating on a 50:50 basis.
