A raft of major contracts for the US3.2 billion shah Deniz Stage 1 gas and condensate development in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea has been awarded by operator BP and its project partners. Stage 1 includes both upstream and midstream developments, designed to recover gas from the Shah Deniz field and deliver it to the Turkish border via the South Caucasus Pipeline in 2006. The project is expected to deliver 178 billion m~3 of gas and 250 million barrels of condensate.
