SapuraAcergy of Malaysia has awarded Proserv Offshore the subsea cutting contract for decommissioning of the Iwaki platform jacket off the northeast coast of Japan, to commence late 3Q 2010.Located in 154m of water, the eight-legged, 20,735t Iwaki wellhead production platform will have the nearlyl6,000t jacket cut such that that DP heavylift vessel Sapura 3000 can lower it to the seabed, creating an artificial reef.
