UFOP sees sharp drop in 2021 biodiesel use

Biodiesel consumption in 2021 is expected to have reached only 2.6 million tonnes, according to oilseed sector group UFOP, following 3.448 million in 2020. UFOP pointed to surplus tickets transferred to the post-2020 period. These stem to the years prior-2020 and could not be used in 2020 because of the Fuel Quality Directive. Moreover, the 2020 greenhouse gas reduction target was more than met, boosting the ticket bank.
