During the last decade, new challenges and trends are being seen in Asia Pacific for the wood coatings market, which is the biggest market worldwide for this application. Asia's wood coatings market is nowadays recognised as the global trend-setter, where the fast growth of green technology is not only driven by legislation (eg GB 18581-2009 in PR China, which has recently been reviewed and approved), but also by end-users demanding low solvent emissions, low free monomer content and low smell. A large number of success cases can be found in Asia in which, highly polluting technologies have been replaced by more environmental ones eg waterborne or UV curing waterborne.
