Concurrent with the official end of the 30-year Maui gas sales contract in New Zealand, partners in the Maui gas field offshore the Taranaki Basin are carrying out a $42 million maintenance programme in the Maui B sector which will include drilling three sidetracks off declining wells into other pockets of gas. A similar maintenance programme may be carried out at Maui A.
