Designing pipelines for deepwater means heavier wall thicknesses to handle ultra-high pressures,as well as telescopies,wye splits,vertical wyes and varying WT to cope with the far-ranging transport demands of such capital intensive oil and gas infrastructure.It has also meant conventional in-line tools are no longer up to the task of inspecting many of these lines.Darius Snieckus reports on a new high-resolution in-line MFL inspection tool for deepwater pipelines 'not built around a pig'.
