PRODUCTION HAS RESUMED from the Statoil-operated Lufeng field in the South China Sea,previously shut down for 11 months to drill sidetracks in three of the five existing production wells (AOG May/June 2004).Originally scheduled to close down for good in February 2004,new wells and innovative technology are helping to keep Lufeng onstream, utilising Bluewater's Munin FPSO (pictured),until 2008.Lufeng's recovery factor is expected to be boosted from 32% to nearly 40%,the field having yielded more than 37 million barrels since it started production in 1997.
