LNG is the fastest growing hydrocarbon fuel in the foreseeable future.Capacity for liquefaction and shipping is coining available but a shortfall in import capacity threatens.In China this is a result of toe congestion of port infrastructure due to rapid economic growth.Hence offshore LNG import terminals may be an attractive alternative.This article,based on a paper presented at June's LNG Tech Asia Pacific conference in Shanghai,describes the design of a Single Point Mooring (SPM) system in combination with a subsea cryogenic pipeline for 'ship to shore' transfer of LNG.
