Susan Matorin certainly recognizes the frustrations that health care providers face daily in our increasingly convoluted regulatory environment (Jun 2011). What can be easily overlooked or minimized is the erosion of the time that providers have left to meet the complex, multilayered needs of our patients. Anyone who has personally experienced, or knows someone with, chronic illness understands the value of a doctor's compassionate, unhurried guidance.
