Consumer advocates, utility trade groups spar over industry association dues at FERC

Environmental and consumer advocates are urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reform its regulations for rate recovery of industry associations dues, but trade groups maintain that they already follow federal rules for lobbying activities. The Feb. 22 comments were filed in response to a notice of inquiry launched by FERC in December 2021 into whether utilities are appropriately distinguishing between recoverable and nonrecoverable association dues (RM22-5).
