Good teamwork depends on good communication, mutual respect and proactively remedying any deficiencies in the team. When a GP trainee joins a practice, they need to liaise with the various teams not just within the practice, but also with the healthcare and allied staff in the local hospitals and in the community. Teamworking skills are therefore paramount for GP trainees. This may seem daunting to many trainees as they familiarise themselves with community-based care while preparing for various assessments as a part of their training, but it is a skill that needs to be developed and practised day in and day out.
