摘要

The Chandler wobble and the free core nutation are the most important eigenmodes in Earth rotation. Studying their properties is important for such purposes as modeling and prediction of the time variations in polar motion and nutation, or constraining different geophysical parameters related to the internal constitution and rheological properties of the Earth, and to the global circulation of its outer fluid layers. In this work we give a historical overview and describe recent advances in observation and modeling of the Chandler and free core nutaton resonances. We also report on our own results of the research on this topic.
