Privacy issues I electronic toll collection

This paper summarises privacy in the context of electronic tollcollection(ETC). Developments in ETC are noted, and the ways in whichprivacy is being addressed are discussed. The development of privacyCodes of practice by toll road operators is discussed, mentioning inparticular recent development in Australia involving the alignment ofsuch codes with Standards Australia(SA)draft guidelines and thePrivacy principles developed by the Australian Federal PrivacyCommissioner are noted. 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
