THE THORNY issue of feedstock propylene availability and prices raised its ugly head again recently when Asahi Kasei Chemicals,unable to pass on higher costs to its customers,was forced to shut down acrylonitrile(ACN)capacity.As the largest ACN supplier in Asia,the company has a vested interest in securing lower-cost propylene.Its Omega Process technology could be the answer,says Taketsugu Fujiwara,President & Representative Director of Asahi Kasei Chemicals.
