Licensing Round To Face Muted Interest

According to a Jakarta Post report, Indonesia plans to offer 21 con- ventional and unconventional oil and gas (O&G) blocks in various parts of the country in 2016. The open tender will include blocks in existing O&G felds, shale gas blocks as well as coal bed methane (CBM) blocks. Of this, 13 blocks will be conventional, fve blocks will be CBM blocks and three blocks will be shale. While the con- ventional blocks could see some investor interest due to their low cost of production, the spectre of more onerous regulations in the upstream sector is likely to keep many frms on the sidelines.
