LG PETCHEM POSTS 2.4% FALL IN ITS Q2 OPERATING PROFIT

LG Petrochemical posted a 2.4% drop in its operating profit for the second quarter of 2005 on rising oil prices and feedstock costs.The company earned Won57.8bn (USUS56.5m) in the quarter ended 30 June 2005,down from Won59.2bn in the second quarter of 2004.Sales rose by 20.9% to Won491.9bn,on the back of high demand and tight supply for basic chemicals and strong prices.Net profit rose 44.4% to Won52.4bn.
