Qilu to build unit to boost butanol

Qilu Petrochemical is to build a 130 000 tonne/year butanol unit that would boost the company's output to 200 000 tonne/year in Zibo, Shandong, China, said a company source. Propylene feedstock would be sourced from the company's cracker, which is being expanded from 450 000 tonne/year to 720 000 tonne/year. The expanded cracker is due to start up in September-October 2004.
