Germany has become the first country in the world to develop new technologies that allow LPG to be imported via a floating storage and regasification unit. The Hoegh Gannet, one of two FRSU’s already operational in Germany, started sending gas into the German grid in March. “After six months of engineering, LPG can also be discharged into this FRSU through its deck via ship-to-ship transfer,” analysts at S&P Global Commodity insights said. “This FSRU is the first to be able to unload LPG across the deck.”
