The chemical storage tanks used by Japan's petrochemical producers are built to withstand strong earthquakes,such as the one that hit Hokkaido recently,industry sources told ACN.Their views contrast sharply with the results of a survey carried out by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency last year,the results of which were published in the Asahi Shimbun early this month.
