The Sex of Premature Infants with Hyaline Membrane Disease

There is a preponderance of male infants having hyaline membrane disease in premature infants delivered vaginally. The frequency is the same for both sexes in normal infants delivered vaginally and in the 1,000 to 1,500 Gm. groups. The differences between the sexes may be related to survival time.
