Gasifying Its Future

In the short term, it appears that the future gas riches promised by Palta-1 are still worth the cost of exploration. This is unsurprising, given that Australia's growing gas production and LNG export in- frastructure developments leave the country poised to be the world's largest LNG exporter by 2020. The proximity of Australia – and WA in particular – to major LNG markets such as Japan, South Korea, China, and increasingly India (as well as its conventional and unconventional gas resources) have prompted a furry of invest- ment activity.
