Italian engineering and construction (E&C) company Saipem has withdrawn its earlier earnings guidance because of a "signiOcant deterioration" in margins that it blamed on higher costs for materials and logistics. Saipem said a review of its backlog of contracts showed a sharp decline in the margins of some onshore E&C projects for which the higher costs of materials and logistics are only partially recoverable, depending on the type of contract.
