NICHOLAS Piramal (NPIL) is seeking to expand its business,even as the Indian government passed a law that made the copying of patented drugs illegal and,theoretically,would increase competition from foreign drug producers.Its board of directors has approved a rights issue of equity shares to shareholders that would raise equity funds not exceeding Rs3.5bn (USUS80.27m).
