Abstract—A general solution is obtained for the problem of synthesizing a gradient dielectric lens with central symmetry and external focus, which transforms the field of a point source into a given geometric-optical field. As an example of using the obtained solution, the problem of synthesizing a lens that forms a table-shaped radiation pattern is considered. By means of numerical simulation by the finite element method, an analysis of a multibeam planar lens antenna based on a synthesized lens made in the form of a set of dielectric rings located between two metal disks was carried out.
