The nation's natural gas utility and pipeline companies have a solid, long-standing record of providing reliable service and an excellent history of response and recovery during emergencies. It's an industry that takes pride in being prepared to handle the unexpected. Since the horrific events of Sept. 11, natural gas companies have been building on this foundation of preparedness in myriad ways to increase the security of their facilities and cyber systems. In addition, AGA has been working with other energy organizations and pertinent federal entities to address infrastructure security issues. The association's policies and activities in this area fall under the purview of the CEO-level Security, Integrity and Reliability Committee that AGA's board formed last fall.
